The Smithers Local Immigration Partnership (SmithersLIP) is a community-wide initiative funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Our goal is to create a community where newcomers and residents alike can realize their full potential. We work to enhance the settlement and integration of newcomers through strategic planning and community collaboration.
Supporting newcomers and residents by building connections, sharing resources, and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive together.
Peaceful mountain living with stunning views and a calm, elevated lifestyle.
A vibrant, nature-filled community surrounded by rivers, greenery, and outdoor life.
Explore connected trails, open spaces, and an active outdoor lifestyle for everyone.
The Smithers Local Immigration Partnership is pleased to release its first Community Plan. This plan will help to guide our work in the region over the next three years.
Organizations can take part by joining the SmithersLIP partnership council or participating in one of our working groups to help shape local initiatives. Community members are also encouraged to get involved by applying to join the Newcomer Advisory Committee, where their voices and experiences help guide inclusive programs and services.

We acknowledge with gratitude that Smithers is located on the unceded traditional territory of the Gidimt’en Clan and the Wet’suwet’en Nation. Let’s work together to keep our community safe and inclusive for everyone.
Land Acknowledgement
We would like to acknowledge, with gratitude and appreciation, that the land on which we live and operate in Smithers is the unceded, traditional territory of the Gidimt’en Clan and the Wet’suwet’en Nation. These lands are also home to many other Indigenous people, including the Inuit and Métis.
